Three people made of pills in running formation

Doping in sports has been present in sports for many years going back to the ancient Greek Olympics. Back then mixtures of herbs, plants, mushrooms, and wines were used to create performance enhancing drugs (Baron et al., 2007). Although many would assume this is only an issue in adult male and female athletes’ recent studies have show that there has been an increase in use of PEDs in Youth (White & Noeun, 2016). There is also a possibility that sports viewers decline, and the quality of sportsmanship go down because of the false representation in performance from athletes using PEDs. Considering this widespread phenomenon of doping in sports many are questioning what the community has been doing to regulate the use of PEDs.
